Caitlin Hicks, MD, MS, FACS, FAHA, DFSVS

Dr. Hicks is a renowned vascular surgeon and a public health policy researcher. Her clinical practice focuses on carotid disease, open and endovascular aortic surgery, and complex limb salvage. Her research interests the epidemiology of lower extremity disease and value-based care in vascular surgery. The overarching goal of her work is to better define patients who will benefit from vascular interventions, and to optimize patient care and improve overall patient outcomes.
Dr. Hicks also serves as the Deputy Directory for Research at the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology, and Clinical Research, the Vice Chair of Research for the Johns Hopkins Department of Surgery, the Associate Fellowship Director for the Johns Hopkins Vascular Surgery Fellowship, and the Director of the Johns Hopkins Department of Surgery Center for Outcomes Research.
 A distinguished fellow of the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Hicks is also the Principal Investigator (PI) or site PI of 11 ongoing clinical trials related to vascular surgery. Dr. Hicks is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal SURGERY, Editor-in-Chief of Seminars in Vascular Surgery, an Associate Editor of Annals of Vascular Surgery, and serves as editorial board member of the Journal of Vascular Surgery and Annals of Surgery. She has published more than 300 peer-reviewed publications.
